Promoting
and deepening the learning community and the fellowship
of the universal church
The exposure and dialogue programme “Community
Building and Spirituality – A new way of being church”
(March/April 2004) gave a deeper insight into the many-facetted
implementation of the Asian Integral Pastoral Approach
(AsIPA) and other participatory pastoral approaches (BEC
– Basic Ecclesial Communities) in Malaysia and Singapore.
It brought the experience of very lively communities and
fellowship with a variety of different services, the practised
unity of life and faith and an enriching experience of
learning within the universal church and many new ideas
for pastoral work in East and West Germany. The dialogue
and exchange with the bishops and diocesan officials there
made it clear what role each aspect plays in diocesan
programmes and planning. Experiences and important assessments
of the situation of the Church and of pastoral work in
Malaysia and Singapore from the EDP were collated in the
magazine “KM Forum Weltkirche” [Universal
Church Forum] in September/October 2004.
Further information about AsIPA can be found at www.asipa.de
In 2001, the bishops’
charity ADVENIAT carried out an exposure and dialogue
programme in Guatemala and Honduras to mark the occasion
of the 40th anniversary of its founding. The experience
of the shared faith was a crucial and defining aspect
of the encounters that took place in those two countries.
The Church in Germany can gain stimuli for its pastoral
and spiritual work from such practised unity of life and
faith. The experiences and observations are recorded in
the following publication:
“Begegnungen im Glauben – Exposure- und Dialogprogramm
mit christlichen Gemeinden in Mittelamerika” (Encounters
in Faith – Exposure and Dialogue Programme with
Christian Communities in Central America)
Publishers: Franz Marcus – Don Bosco Verlag

Sharing
and inter-cultural understanding through the message of
the Gospel
Understanding the unity of faith and life as a basis and
practical tool for pastoral work was the goal of the exposure
and dialogue programme, which took place in January 1999
in the Philippines.
